My First Blog Awards and Award Giveaways!

I am thrilled and delighted to receive two blog awards in the past week.

The first was the Versatile Blogger Award from Swimming in the Mud –a thoughtful blog full of fun and vitality and a real gem.

The second award was from Madame Weebles. She is hilarious and is also a Reiki Master. You must visit this unusual blog!

The rules for the Versatile Blogger Award are:

- Thank the blogger who nominated you.

- Share 7 random things about yourself. (My list is at the end of the post)

- Nominate 15 fellow bloggers.

- Inform the bloggers of their nomination.

- Add the Versatile Blogger Award pic on your blog post.

The rules for the Beautiful Blogger award are similar to the Versatile Award: bestow it upon 7 other bloggers and list 7 random things about yourself.

The best part of getting awards is giving them away. Like Madam Weebles I decided to combine the awards. You can accept one or both. Please don’t feel obligated to acknowledge the awards or pass them on I really just wanted to honor you and pass your info on to my clients and other bloggers as you are all amazing resources of wisdom.

There are many, many blogs I love and learn from but I decided to only nominate those I don’t think have gotten any blog awards. Though they have all gotten well deserved awards I wanted to take this opportunity to give a special shout out Cauldrons and CupcakesZen BeingA Leaf in Springtime and again to Madame Weebles–I am deeply grateful for your work and your continued encouragement.

And the list is (in no particular order)…

  1. All Points Healing
  2. Nourishing Words
  3. Gneiss Moon Astrology
  4. The Food ReFashionista
  5. This Bewitching Life
  6. The Reiki Blog
  7. Amy Keast, Intuitive
  8. LargeSelf
  9. Lisa W. Rosenberg
  10. Healthy and Holistic
  11. Justina Hurley
  12. Elisa Cashiola
  13. LadyBuddha Speaks
  14. rococonnor
  15. Inspire ‘Til You Expire

And my 7 random things:

  1. I studied belly dance and yoga with Magana Baptiste. For many years her studio was my spiritual home.
  2. My previous career was in child welfare working with several counties and a local television station to recruit foster and adoptive parents for the many, many children in need in the San Francisco Bay Area.
  3. My husband plants the vegetables and I send Reiki to them.
  4. I grew up in Long Island, NY– but after 20 years in California I no longer sound like I’m from Lawg Guy-Land.
  5. My favorite music is Reggae, Jazz and Hip-hop.
  6. I’m very friendly and come off as an extrovert but am extremely introverted.
  7. I like folding laundry. I find it very relaxing.

Congratulations and thank you for your beautiful, versatile and always inspiring blogs!

With Bright Blessings,

Julie

  1. Congratulations, Julie! Thank you so very much for passing along these wonderful awards to The Reiki Blog. I feel so grateful, humbled and honored! And thank you for providing such a wealth of other great blogs for me to discover and visit (including your Cooking Intuitive blog—wow!). I post a lot about cooking as my alter-ego, Silence Dogood, on my Poor Richard’s Almanac blog (http://ourfriendben.wordpress.com), so I can’t wait to check out your cooking blog. Alas, I’m such a Luddite that I have no clue how to upload, er, download, er, whatever the awards. But at least I can write a post about them, reveal seven things about myself (this is always fun), and link back to your blog! Thank you again (and again) for enjoying The Reiki Blog and for your kindness. Bright blessings, Elly

    • You are so welcome! I have gotten so much out of your blog and am so happy to be able to share it with others. Have fun finding new blogs on my list (I’m so excited about that!) and I will check out your other blogs.

  2. Thanks for the shout out! And, hey, I’m a Lawn-Guylander too with only one year under my belt in CA (or did I reveal that already?) Whatever! So, yo. And, how YOU doing? And, foegetaboudit. :)

    Yours truly,
    Swimming in the Mud
(guess it’s better than swimming wit da fishes. ;^)

    • First I need to stop laughing. Okay. I knew you had a ton of pluck and now I see why! I remember newly in CA from East Coast but I didn’t know Lawng Guy-land! How you doin’ on the adjustment to CA? I remember I learned quickly it was not okay to bang on people’s cars and yell dirty words. Back home it was all part of the good time banter.
      Yo,
      Julie

      • Well, I’m definitely not making as much use of my middle finger while driving… seems its not appropriate. Go figure… all this time, I thought I was showing the highest restraint. lol. ;^) And I always miss flexing my wisecrack muscle. I’m looking downright flabby, I tell ya!

  3. Julie,
Thank you so much for honoring me and I so look forward to reading the other wonderful blogs on your awards list! And congratulations to you! I LOVE the wordpress blogosphere!

    Namaste,

    Cathy

  4. My dear Julie! Warmest congratulations on these Awards – the joy of giving and receiving and full flow of celebrations of appreciaton and warmth is so felt here!! I have always felt your kindness across the miles, in every word, every interaction. And hey! I love folding laundry too – it is so calming smoothing each item out carefully and systematically. I always remember my 84 year old grandmother (the Zen of the art of folding clothes). I have always been mesmerised by the beauty of such a simple thoughtful act! HUGS and to the Art of Laundry :D Sharon

    • Thank you so much Sharon! You and your blog embody the warmth and generous spirit I have found in this blogging community. You are also reminding me of what Thich Nhat Hanh said about doing dishes: “To my mind, the idea that doing dishes is unpleasant can occur only when you aren’t doing them. Once you are standing in front of the sink with your sleeves rolled up and your hands in the warm water, it is really quite pleasant. I enjoy taking my time with each dish, being fully aware of the dish, the water, and each movement of my hands. I know that if I hurry in order to eat dessert sooner, the time of washing dishes will be unpleasant and not worth living. That would be a pity, for each minute, each second of life is a miracle. The dishes themselves and that fact that I am here washing them are miracles!” Big Hug!-Julie

  5. Yay on your Versatile Blogger award! I love your site—even just reading your posts makes me feel more peaceful and thoughtful, so thank you for that — I’m looking forward to reading much more!

  6. Ah, no, correction, you received 3 blog awards this week. Congratulations.
Intuitive blogs help people, whereas some of the blogs out there, are cute distractions and time-wasters.

I’m always pleased to find informative blogs such as your blog.
