I have benefited greatly and continue to experience big energetic shifts from Elisa’s straightforward, practical advice. Elisa also has a wonderful sense of humor, a great sense of style
and is an extremely generous and loving human being.
It is with great joy I share my interview with her:
- Tell me a little about your work in placement design/feng shui.
Feng shui has been a part of my life for years and I just recently coined the term “placement design” for a more modern approach, along with interior decorating, symbolism, and color theory thrown in the mix. Feng shui and placement design are both all about the flow of energy in a home essentially.
- I have seen many versions of the bagua map. Which one do you recommend?
I recommend the western version, which is exactly like the one shown on my website (http://pinkdwelling.com/the-placement-design-grid/). It is easy to follow, and we all do not have the perfectly shaped room or house! It is not practical or aesthetically pleasing for anyone to have furniture at an awkward angle based on a certain compass direction.
- At the intuitive circle I recently hosted there were many questions about space clearing. Can you give us a few suggestions on clearing the energy in our homes?
I suggest you do space clearing on a day when no one is home, turn off the computers, phones and televisions, and try to be barefoot for the space clearing process. The purpose of this is to get attuned to your house’s energies and what it needs. It is hard to do so when we are easily distracted by all the technology at our fingertips, and it takes discipline to stay focused on the space clearing. I always have a bell, incense, a candle, and prayers/intentions written down for each time I space clear my home. It is also important to do space clearing when you move into a new place before you do anything to clear out the previous occupants’ energies.
- How do you incorporate Angels in your work?
I often call upon Archangels Michael and Jophiel, to work with me as I do space clearing or placement design, because they will guide you to an area of a house, or help you to sense what could be out of balance. I simply ask them to come forth and let them know they are welcome in my place. Listen to your intuition and where you are being guided. Most of the time it will surprise you!
- What colors do you associate with energetic protection?
White is a great color to have. I burn white candles when space clearing for purity.
- What changes can a person make in their home to attract more abundance?
It’s all about going bigger. Often “little” items – knick knacks or furniture that look “thin” are commonly visible in people’s homes. You want to convey a feeling of fullness and abundance, and surrounding yourself with bigger items will do so. If you have a choice between a tiny flower pot versus a lush, full tropical plant, which do you think is the better choice for abundance? If it’s not possible to get bigger decor items, then put away the little items to make everything else seem….bigger!
Another way to attract abundance is to surround yourself with images and symbols of abundance. Everyone’s idea of abundance is different, but the important thing to remember is to not surround yourself with scarcity items, such as a “tiny tim” plant, or old, worn furniture. It only reinforces the feeling of not having enough.
- Some of my clients are dealing with blocks to manifesting. How can placement design assist them?
Color will go a long way in helping them get past those blockages and make them feel more confident and encourage them to move forward. Red, orange and yellow are the most powerful colors in breaking through. The red, orange, and yellow are related to our lower chakras, which is all about survival, creation, and confidence. It can be overwhelming as well, so start with small amounts. Eat foods in those colors daily, and wear socks and underwear in those colors. No one but you has to know! Jewelry, a wallet, a handbag, and nail polish all add those pops of color to change your mindset. Even writing with a red pen works too. I hated orange and yellow for YEARS until I saw a shade of orange that grabbed my eye and slowly, I learned to love it. I recommend starting with these colors personally to get used to them if you are not comfortable changing or adding more color to your decor right away.
Another factor to keep in mind about manifesting something in your life is that blockages will show up in the home symbolically. You will be surprised at how symbolic clutter, certain collections, or artwork can be a major blockage unconsciously to the client. I have had clients who wanted to find someone special in their lives with no such luck and what would I see in their relationship areas? Items grouped in 3s, and not 2s. Once we took away the “extra” item, their love lives would take off in the direction they wanted!
- How do you coach couples where one is resistant to purging?
I see it too often when one person wants to throw out something and the other doesn’t. It does take compromise! You have to find a common ground – something you both agree on getting rid of. It starts the ball rolling. I recommend to a couple to put away something one refuses to throw out in a box in a closet for a minimum of 2 or 3 months and then revisit the box after that to see if they still want it.
- What is the one thing someone can do in their home right now to improve the energy?
Space clear and declutter the least favorite room of your house right now, as that room or space holds the most potential for positive change in your life. If you have been neglecting a certain room for a while, take care of it first before making changes anywhere else in the house. You will feel lighter and better once you do, and your house will too!
